Well I can always be found happily wielding a Les Paul but recently I have a new found appreciation for my beat up, worn old Strat. I also am planning on taking my favorite strat neck (worn maple shaped to my hand- soon to be refretted) and throwing it on a nice beat up body and customize the hell out of it.

1. Show us your beat up Strat(s) - copies and teles welcome also
2. Tell us about them
- a story about the guitar
- why it suits you so well
- what year/model
- any mods or alterations

Lets see 'em:)

Well, mine's not so much beat up as aged though cared for-

Camille is a 1979 American Strat which I have had for about 2 years. I replaced the saddles, nut, and string trees with Graph-Tech graphite and I replaced the die-cast bridge with a new American steel bridge. I'm thinking about changing the pickups to Kinmans but they are very expensive and I just bought an amp.

It suits me so well because the neck is nice and thick and no other guitar neck has fit me so well except maybe the Robert Cray sig Strat.

Not sure the official name but i'd call it "vintage yellow."

My Dad has an old Bullet Bass in that color, only not quite as spectacular looking.

It's not mine, but I've "borrowed" it from my cousin for about a year now. I'm not totally sure about the exact specs, I only know it's a 1970's American Fender Strat. I've been taking it to band practice recently, and from some reason I like the tone of it through high gain amps, but I definately wouldn't give my Les Paul up though. The only mods that I can visibly see have been done to it is the replacement of the original Fender trem bridge with a Wilkinson trem bridge.

I've posted this before, but figured this thread is perfect for this:

Local made strat

Got it for super super cheap and it sounds more "STrat" then most strats (hard to explain) I've been searching for 2 years now for a strat as a backup, but just can't find one that sounds as good... Probably has to do with that neck-through:)

Bought for a good deal on Ebay last June/July. It was beat when I got it. For it only being 5/6 years old, it has been played quite a bit. The frets are worn nicely and it shows of being in many dark smokey places. I love it, I would not have any other guitar as my main stratocaster right now.

I don't have a pic, but my strat is an encore:o (super crap it cost 85 quid) which i have resprayed pink. I'm gonna put a fender pick up on it cos it currently sounds like the yeti using an electric razor. And i'm gonna make it into a 12 srting!!!!:p
