Not so bothered about the input (my strat is the only one where the cable never falls out). The bridge will be changed but I can get the parts for £40 and then just need to do some routing

I've never played a maple neck I like, but it's an interesting take. Those look like regular Jazzmaster pickups. Now, depending on the price, that Jaguar could make a future backup. If they're cheap enough, maybe I could just learn to live with a maple neck

The Jaguar looks great. The toggle switch up top is something I wished my Jaguar had. I imagine these would be great for modding and the like. Shame about the input jack though; I've had some bad experiences with jacks like that, especially on my Squier Strat.

The maple neck is nice and it's great to see that the JM appears to have the original pickups...a nice alternative to the Blacktop if you're on a budget. The jack socket doesn't bother me but I don't know what's going on with that bridge...it looks like a hardtail to me, but not one I'm familiar with.

Unfortunately, there's still no sign of any new Fender JM resissues for 2011 yet...looks like I'll have to pick up that '65 I've been lusting after from Japan or something.

Guitar rig: CIJ Fender Jazzmaster/CIJ Fender Mustang -> TU-3 -> RAT 2 -> M.A.S.F. Lavender Head -> RV-5 -> RE-20 -> PS-2 -> DD-3 -> EHX Cathedral -> Fender '65 DRRI & Matamp Mini

Bass rig: Fender MIM Jazz Bass -> TU-2 -> OD-3 -> custom IC Muff -> Sansamp BDDI -> RV-3

Update: these things have got into shops pretty quick and i was able to try one today. All I can say is wow. Pickups are quite hot but unbelivably versatile - I think i just like the duncan design stuff (see the tele custom II as well). They are different to fendr jazzmaster pickups but to my mind much better than those on the classic player jazzmaster (which i alo tried today). General build was excellent, better than the fender mex strat i tried straight after (the jazz was 200 quid less!) The stacked tone and volume were interesting - the tone felt more like a multi-position selector switch and gave some super sounds. There's also a video been uploaded here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPQR7VES8yY

Squier or not this is a winner. though I'd like a jazz trem on it the bridge it has gives an excellent sound. Definately going on my GAS list

Only thing is, the price difference between Vintage Modified and the Blacktop Jazzmaster is $150. I don't see another price point there.
