Hello.

Can somebody recomend me a solid body guitar that has this nice jazzy sound as an hollow body. The tone i'm looking for is kind of like a Karate meets Miles Davis "In a silent way" guitar tones.

any guitar that sound like that out there?

thanks

No such thing as a nice jazzy solidbody. You can try to squeeze a jazzy sound out of almost any guitar, but for a true jazzy sound you need to go at least semi-hollow. My heritage is a semi-hollow and it has a nice warm sound, so you might want to check out heritage. If thats out of your price range have a look at some of the Ibanez art series. They are semi-hollow and really good bang-for-the-buck guitars.
Just curious why you don't want a hollowbody guitar?

I don't feel comfortable with hollowbodys, or at least not the one I've tried. I like small bodys. Mabey I haven't been trying the right ones.

I'm not really shure. Max $1000 - $1400 I think.

Les Paul's were made for jazz...you might try some out and see if they'll fit the bill.

Gibson makes some downsized hollowbodies that are probably out of your price range. A 356 or a Johnny A. I have a Johnny A and it does great. But my SG is almost as good. You can emulate the natural reverb that a hollowbody has by turning up the reverb in the amp. The SG is a darker sounding guitar, more jazzy in that way. But the Johnny A has tone and overtones that no solidbody will ever have.

I'd get a hollowbody. No sold body really will sound the same. Not that you can't play jazz on a solid. Its mostly tradition. But the hollowbodies have great vibe. The big ones aren't really that hard to play.

Now listen here, I'm gonna' tell you the thing of this gig.
